THE INSTITUTE OF REGISTERED MUSIC TEACHERS provides various types of assistance to music teachers:

• yearly conferences at which teachers from all over the country can meet, share experiences and problems, and hear guest speakers
• a channel for teachers to make representations to government
• liaison with other music education groups
• a quarterly journal containing news, articles and reviews
• advice on legal and practical issues related to music teaching
• awarding fellowships recognising special service to the profession
